Sarika Sanjot is off to a flying start in her filmy career. The filmmaker is all set to make her directorial foray in tinseltown with a social-comedy Kahani Rubber band Ki. The film also marks the debut of small screen stars Avika Gor and Manish Raisinghan and features Scam 1992 superstar Pratik Gandhi in lead roles.
Sarika Sanjot, who’s the producer and director of the film has had a humble beginning in the Indian film industry as an assistant to the writer of epic action drama RRR. She also finished her graduation from New York Film Academy. After finishing her graduation she wanted to make her mark in the industry with a film that not only entertains but also passes a message or brings a change in the society.
With that thought in mind, she worked on the idea of Kahani Rubberband Ki. “With Kahani Rubberband Ki, we are honestly trying to give a new name to a condom that is rubberband. Statistically, even now in smaller cities we treat this word or this product as a taboo. We haven’t succeeded as a society in normalizing the conversations around condoms. Even now, there’s hesitation among youngsters to walk into a medical store and openly ask for condoms. Because of this taboo we make our youth feel weird while they are just being responsible,” says Sarika.
She further adds, “I wanted to make a family entertainer that spoke of condoms without making anyone squirm and comedy was the best route to take to achieve this. I am glad my dream is finally coming true and I am really excited about this film.”
Kahani Rubberband Ki has been shot completely in Varanasi. The movie also stars actors like Aruna Irani, Gaurav Gera, Kanwarjit Paintal, Hemang Dave, Amit Singh Thakur, Meenakshi Seti, Shyamlal, and Katyayani Sharma. There will also be a cameo from Romil Chaudhary.
Produced under the banner of Moon House Productions, the film is slated to release on 14th of October. The music of the film is by Meet Bros and will be released with Zee Music Company. The film is being released by PVR cinemas across the country.
