COLORS’ ’Khatron Ke Khiladi’ returns with its 13th edition packed with adrenaline-inducing adventures and an unprecedented level of danger. Conceptualised in the jungle theme, the upcoming season of the show will feature 14 contestants from all walks of life. They will be seen battling the most terrifying challenges in the wilderness of South Africa. The iconic filmmaker and ace action maestro, Rohit Shetty will return as the host leading and mentoring the daring troop as they fight their fears. Produced by Endemol Shine India, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’ will air on COLORS soon.
1. What are the 13 things you have carried with you to South Africa?
A. I’ve packed knowing that this edition of ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ is set in the jungle theme. My 13 must-haves include my jacket, shoes, jungle hat, phone, camera, swim wear, hairbrush, air pods, windcheater, a box of sunglasses, one for each day, socks, clothing, and binoculars.
2. If you were to become Rohit Shetty for a day, what challenges would you give to the contestants?
A. If I were Rohit Shetty for a day, I’d give contestants happy challenges. I will give them challenges not too far from their comfort zone and that would give them a little confidence that’s required for a show of this scale and repute.
3. What was your family’s reaction when you were offered ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi 13’?
A. My family was supportive; my wife is the one who pushes me to try adventurous projects. She is always supportive so that I push myself and not get laidback. My mother and daughter were of course not that supportive in the beginning, because they were both very concerned about me. But now the three of them are supportive and rallying behind me.
4. Which food dish you will miss the most?
A. I’ll miss the chai that my house help makes, because no one makes chai like that, and my day starts with that.
5. Whom will you miss the most (person/pet)?
A. I will miss my mother, wife, and daughter. Not in this order but I’m going to miss all of them as they are the mainstay of my life and when I do not have them around, I feel very lost.
6. Are you best friends with any of the contestants in this season?
A. I do not know anybody. I have never met any of them. I know Daisy to a certain extent because we have a few common friends, but I would not say I have any friends on the show. I want to make friends through the show.
7. Who according to you would be a tough competitor?
A. I think all of them are extremely tough. I have met 5-6 of them. They have the energy of the youth, and the brashness, that’s required for a show like this because that kind of gives you an edge.
8. Have you followed the journey of any ex-contestant from ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’? / Which previous contestant do you draw inspiration from?
A. I draw inspiration from Siddharth Shukla. Whether it was a dance show or a reality show, he did everything with a lot of passion. He is my favourite contestant.
9. If there is a previous stunt you would like to perform, which one would it be?
A. I have always liked aerial stunts. Hanging from aircrafts is a once-in-a-lifetime, kind of opportunity. I would like to do the stunt in which the contestant has to climb up the helicopter on a ladder which is swinging while judging the speed and one’s core strength.
10. How are you preparing for your Khatron Ke Khiladi journey?
A. I am preparing by making my mind stronger than it was yesterday. Physically I think I’m fine, there is nothing extra that I need to do. I’ve always done my best to stay fit. It’s a lifestyle choice. On this show, I will be facing dangers that I’ve never encountered before. If I’m prepared mentally, it will blunt the shock factor a little bit.
11. What is the one fear you would like to overcome in this journey?
A. I want to overcome my fear of fears. You see there are a lot of times, we are fearful of things that we do not even need to be fearful of. Like for instance, why do we need to be fearful of cockroaches?! There is no reason. It is never going to do anything to us, but we fear it. I want to get rid of such fears.
