Ahmedabad, 12th August 2023 : “GUJ- IR 2023” conference has been organized by Interventional Radiology Society Trust, Gujarat on 12th and 13th August, 2023 at Hyatt Hotel, Vastrapur, Ahmedabad. The entire program is supported by Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) Gujarat Chapter.
This conference of IRST is a first of its kind exclusive Interventional Radiology conference, being held for the very first time in Ahmedabad. Around 250 to 300 doctors from Mumbai, Rajasthan and Gujarat have been invited as delegates and attendees. The National Faculties included some the most senior and most famous interventional radiologists of India like Dr. Vimal Someswar, Dr. Suyash Kulkarni and Dr. Uday Limaye. The programme agenda included a wide variety like live cases, demonstrations on mannequins for students, stent deployment, models for radio frequency and microwave ablations and various stalls demonstrating innovations in IR.
Secretary of the Conference Dr Rozil Gandhi states that “Interventional Radiology (IR) is a rapidly developing field, in which disease involving every part of the body is treated without any kind of incision with the help of sonography, CT scan and cath lab. Now with the help of IR it is possible to treat serious diseases like fatal bleeding, cirrhosis, gangrene (blackening of leg). In this modality of treatment, the patient’s hospital stay duration is reduced significantly.
Dr Milan Jolapara, of the organizing committee states that “IR is now the third pillar of treatment for many diseases without surgery. Now it is possible to treat some cancer tumours with the help of IR. Benign lesions or tumours in the uterus, prostate, breast and thyroid can also be treated with IR without need for scarring surgery.
Dr. Hiren Patel of the organizing committee says that “Now, if patient has paralysis due to clot or hemorrhage in the vessels of the brain, as in the case of stroke or aneurysmal rupture, it can be treated with the help of IR without cutting open the brain.
On the first day of “GUJ- IR 2023” conference i.e. on 12th August live cases will be done, in which, Dr. Rozil Gandhi, Dr. Ketul Pathak, Dr. Uday Patel and Dr. Milan Jolapara will perform live procedures on different cases. While on 13th August, there will be discussion on various topics on IR followed by discussion with a panel of experts.
