Ahmedabad, July 1, 2025 —In a landmark move to boost infrastructure and connectivity, the Government of Gujarat has announced the construction of two state-of-the-art expressways—Namo Shakti Expressway and Somnath-Dwarka Expressway—spanning 1,110 kilometers across 13 districts.
These new expressways, planned in six phases, are expected to reduce travel time by over 30% and will benefit more than 45% of the state’s population. The combined investment in the project is estimated at ₹93,240 crore.
The projects were unveiled in the 2025 State Budget and are being spearheaded by the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC). Alignment work is currently underway, with tenders likely to be issued within six months. Following the awarding of contracts, construction will be completed within 36 months under a public-private partnership (PPP) or other innovative models.

🚧 Somnath–Dwarka Expressway

🚧 Namo Shakti Expressway

Will directly benefit districts including Amreli, Botad, Surendranagar, Patan, Banaskantha, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Morbi, Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, and Gir Somnath

Outcome: All district headquarters will be within 1 hour’s travel time
