Ahmedabad, December: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), a pioneering institution in India’s business landscape, proudly announces its Centenary Celebrations, marking 100 years of its illustrious journey. This historic occasion will be celebrated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on December 18, 2024, following the grand inaugural festivities in Kolkata on December 15, 2024.
Established in 1925 under the visionary leadership of Shri G.D. Birla, the Indian Chamber of Commerce emerged from India’s nationalist movement with a steadfast commitment to nation-building. Over the past 100 years, ICC has evolved into a prominent voice for Indian industry, growing from its roots in Kolkata to a nationwide presence and fostering global trade and investment opportunities. The past 100 years have been significant in driving Indian exports, supporting domestic businesses, promoting long-term investments both interstate and intrastate, providing policy insights, and fostering start-ups through facilitating export orders and capital infusion.
Today, it boasts a robust network of 15 regional offices across India and representation in 25 countries around the world. ICC’s domestic presence has expanded across India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Tripura to Gujarat, with new offices in states like Rajasthan, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, and Kerala. Looking ahead, ICC aims to strengthen its presence nationwide and engage with key global growth nodes, further solidifying its role as a catalyst for progress.
ICC has played a vital role in strengthening synergies between India and its Asian neighbours, expanding its network through national and international MoUs with industry associations and key stakeholders. Our presence in global forums like BIMSTEC, APAC, and IMEC continues to grow. The centenary celebrations highlight ICC’s legacy of transformative change. As Indian business has evolved, ICC has adapted through impactful policy advocacy, earning widespread recognition at government levels.
Mr. Pathik Patwari, Chairman of ICC Gujarat Council, remarked on the occasion “The Indian Chamber of Commerce has always stood for inclusive growth and nation-building. Earlier on that day, the delegation led by Mr. Abhyuday Jindal – President ICC, Mr. Pathik Patwari – Chairman of ICC Gujarat Council and Dr. Rajeev Singh, Director General ICC met Shri Balvantsinh Rajput, Minister of Industries, MSME and Rural Industries to discuss projects for the MSME industries which the chamber will take up under the aegis of the State Government. The delegation also had the opportunity to meet Mr. S J Haider (IAS), Ms. Mamta Verma (IAS) and Mr. Sandip Sagale (IAS), Industries Commissioner to discuss aspects of Trade and Industries development in the state.
The ICC delegation also spent time with some great minds at the state’s startup and innovation center – iHub. There were discussions to put the new inventions into action providing the startups a much-needed Launchpad for growth. The day ended with a memorable session on ‘Shubh Labh Model of Business’ recited by renowned Mythologist and Author – Devdutt Pattanaik offering a unique perspective on culture, leadership and storytelling.
