JCARC(Shree Jagannath Cultural Academy And Research Centre) located near Sani Mandir Adalaj, Gandhinagar is formed with a view to create a platform which can serve as a cultural bridge between Odisha and Gujarat. The Jagannath temple in the complex is built in line with Puri Jagannath Mandir, practicing all rituals of Puri Jagannath Mandir and is spreading the message of Jagannath Culture which epitomizes the culture of universal brotherhood. Like every year, this year also the much awaited and the most significant festival of Lord Jagannath “THE JAGANNATH RATHYATRA” is going to be celebrated at JAGANNATH MANDIR, ADALAJ on 27th June 2025 (Friday) from 8AM to 6PM.
The Rathyatra function begins from the day of Snana Purnima which was celebrated on 11th June and continues till Niladri Bijay (8th July 2025).
Shri Maheswar Sahu, Chairman, Jagannath Cultural Academy and Research Centre (JECRC) shared “ The temple has been the centre of attraction throughout the year. The daily footfall from the nearby villages Adalaj, Kadi, Kalol, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad is in hundreds. On the Rathyatra day approximately 10000 devotees visit the temple for performing darshan of the deities.
Like every year, this year also the cultural program will be performed in the evening hours by community members and renowned artists before the deities.
Rituals on the Rathyatra Day
As per the tradition and ritual of Puri Jagannath Temple, followings are the rituals carried out on the Rathyatra day.
Netroutsav followed by Naba Jouban Darshan after which Mangala Arati takes place followed by Sudhi Karan of Rath. Continuing with this Pahandibidhi of the deities takes place.
Meanwhile the Pandits bring Agya Mala from the Rath to invite the Gajapati Maharaj to perform the ‘Sweeping ceremony’ with golden broom. Following this the Kapur Arati by the Gajapati takes place.

After completion of Arati of the three deities on the Rath, Lord Jagannath gives darshan to devotees and then pulling of the chariot starts.
As per the tradition Lord Jagannath with his elder brother and sister travel in the chariot to his Mousal every year on this day giving darshan to all the devotees irrespective of caste, colour and creed. Not only the Rathyatra signifies universal brotherhood but also it brings out a new energy in the minds of the people for peace, prosperity and happiness.
This year, the Chief Guest will be Shri Narhari Amin, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Former Deputy Chief Minister, Gujarat. The Guest of Honour will be Smt. Miraben Patel, Mayor of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC).
Upon their arrival, they will be received by the Temple Management following this, the chief priest will arrive with the Agyamala (Garland of Command) of the Lord to perform the traditional ‘ChheraPahara’ (Sweeping Ceremony of the Rath). The Chief Guest and Guest of Honour will be accompanied by the JCARC and OSCA management for the rituals.
Route Of Rathyatra
The Rath Yatra will start from Jagannath Mandir, proceed via Shani Mandir, cross the Uvarsad Bridge and Adalaj Circle, and reach Annapurna Mandir. The Rath will then return to Jagannath Mandir via the same route.
Upon arrival of the Ratha, Shri Narhari Amin, accompanied by other trustees, will receive the Bhet for Maa Annapurna and Aarti will be performed. Following the Aarti, Prasad Sevan will be arranged for the devotees at Annapurna Mandir.
After approximately two hours of rest at Mausimaa Mandir (Annapurna Mandir), the deities will return to Jagannath Mandir.
Prasad Sevan arrangements for the devotees are organized at Jagannath Mandir on the day of Rathyatra.
