The four-day lecture series organized by Bharatiya Vichar Manch to mark the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) concluded today with a keynote address by Sah-Sarkaryavah Shri Alok Kumar Ji. The session focused on “Extensive Outreach and the Participation of Noble Forces,” a theme envisioned by the fifth Sarsanghchalak Shri Sudarshan Ji and carried forward by the present Sarsanghchalak, Dr. Mohanrao Bhagwat Ji.
Shri Alok Kumar Ji described Pujya Shri Kuppahalli Sitaramaiah Sudarshan Ji as a remarkable leader whose ideological clarity and organizational vision helped shape the trajectory of the Sangh. With a background in science and engineering, Sudarshan Ji chose the path of a pracharak early in life and dedicated his abilities to national service.
Appointed the fifth Sarsanghchalak in 2000, he initiated significant intellectual and social dialogues on subjects such as economic policy, technology, national security, and emerging global challenges. His advocacy for self-reliance, Swadeshi, and cultural awakening continues to inspire even after his passing on 15 September 2012. Shri Alok Ji emphasized that Sudarshan Ji’s ideas remain a touchstone for many national initiatives.

Speaking about the present Sarsanghchalak, Dr. Mohanrao Bhagwat Ji, Shri Alok Ji highlighted his academic grounding in Veterinary Science and his early involvement during the Emergency in 1975. Dr. Bhagwat dedicated himself fully to the Sangh in 1977 and assumed the role of Sarsanghchalak in 2009 after serving in various organizational responsibilities.
Under his leadership, the Sangh has expanded its work through dialogue, service, and social harmony, adapting thoughtfully to evolving societal needs. His focus on unity, rural development, self-reliance, and national consciousness reflects a balanced approach that integrates tradition with innovation.
The concluding day was graced by Education Minister Dr. Pradyumna Vaja, former ministers Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja and Shri Brijeshbhai Merja, Yuvraj Sahib of Bhavnagar Shri Jayvirrajsinh Gohil, motivational speaker Shri Sanjaybhai Rawal, Kothari Swami Shri Vivek Sagar Swamiji (Salangpur Dham), along with other distinguished saints and dignitaries. Senior thinkers from the Sangh, representatives of Prajna Pravah and Bharatiya Vichar Manch, and noted personalities from academic, cultural, and social spheres were also in attendance.
A special multimedia presentation titled “100 Years of RSS” showcased the Sangh’s journey, its role in nation-building, and its contributions during the freedom movement. The documentary on the evolution of RSS ideology and its global impact received appreciation from the audience.
The exhibition featured 3D models of significant monuments associated with the Sangh’s legacy, including Dr. Hedgewar’s House, Mohitewada, Smriti Mandir, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Ram Mandir, and Bharat Mata. Archival materials highlighting interactions between RSS and national leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Veer Savarkar, and Kanhaiyalal Munshi were also displayed.
Documents showcasing RSS’s contributions to the freedom struggle, its organizational framework, major service activities, and diverse national initiatives were made accessible to visitors.
The event also hosted a special sales counter featuring the commemorative coin “100 Years of RSS,” issued by the Mumbai Mint, Government of India, drawing significant interest from coin collectors and enthusiasts.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ishan Joshi, General Secretary of Bharatiya Vichar Manch, said:
“The centenary year of RSS is not merely an organizational milestone but a moment of national awakening. Through this initiative, we aim to spark renewed intellectual energy and a deeper understanding of the Sangh’s value-driven journey.”
For the past 34 years, Bharatiya Vichar Manch has been conducting programs addressing national and societal issues, bringing together distinguished thinkers and leaders throughout the year.
