Ahmedabad, March, 2026: In a significant medical breakthrough for the region, Narayana Hospital Ahmedabad has successfully conducted its first heart transplant, offering a new lease of life to a patient with advanced heart failure
The complex procedure, among the most demanding in cardiac care, was performed by a highly specialised multidisciplinary team. The patient, who had been under long-term treatment at the hospital for severe heart failure, had exhausted all medical options before being advised a transplant as the only life-saving intervention. A suitable donor heart was subsequently allocated through the organ donation network after months of careful monitoring. The surgery was led by Dr. Atul Maslekar and performed by a team comprising Dr. Alpesh Patel, Dr. Utkarsh Sanghvi, Dr. Hetal Shah, and Dr. Tejas Kanzaria, along with the critical care, ICU, and nursing teams.

Following the successful transplant surgery, the patient is now recovering well under close medical supervision.
