AHMEDABAD: Ahmedabad Book Club organized “An Evening with Sumant Batra” event on Saturday, 6th July 2024 at Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad. In which, Sumant Batra’s latest book “Anarkali” was also launched.
The evening featured the celebrated author Sumant Batra, who captivated the audience with an engaging discussion on his latest book, “Anarkali.” Batra shared personal anecdotes, the creative process behind his writing, and the historical and cultural influences that shaped his narrative. His eloquent storytelling and deep insights resonated with the attendees, sparking lively discussions and a profound appreciation for his work.
Sumat Batra said, “I have endeavored to reconstruct the enigma surrounding this woman (Anarkali), known to us only by her silhouette, by imbuing her with an identity, a name, a family, and a life that extends beyond the tragic love story she has been associated with. What emerges is a poignant narrative, rich and captivating, depicting the journey of a woman navigating the social intricacies of the Mughal Empire and facing the repercussions of pursuing her own desires.”
The event was attended by a diverse group of literature enthusiasts, including members of the press, academics, students, and avid readers, all eager to gain a deeper understanding of Batra’s literary journey. The talk was followed by a delightful dinner, offering attendees an opportunity to connect, share thoughts, and discuss their favorite moments from the evening.
