WOW Skin Science has filed a criminal complaint for copyright infringement and selling of counterfeit products using deceptively similar trade mark/trade dress/packaging/label against Puls Creation, at the Amroli Police Station, Surat on 10th December 2021.
Subsequently a criminal raid was conducted on the same day at the Plus Creation premises which resulted in seizure of 1396 bare labelless face wash as well as shampoo bottles, along with over 350 sheets of stickers/labels of WOW Skin Science products. Additionally, a total of 16 shampoo bottles and 36 face wash bottles were seized with WOW Skin Science labels/stickers affixed on them. Kaushik Gajera, who was found dealing in these products was taken into custody from the said premises and an FIR was lodged against him following which he was arrested. Further investigation in the said matter is underway, and the police authorities are positive that the arrest will lead to the persons who are actually manufacturing and/or supplying these stickers and bottles along with its contents.
A second raid was conducted on 20th December 2021 in Bhavnagar following another FIR lodged at Bhavnagar police station which led to the seizure of counterfeit products that included Apple Cider Vinegar Face Wash, Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Black Seed and Onion Hair Oil. The products seized from the premises will now be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for a thorough inspection and comparison between the original products and the seized products based on which a report will be prepared by the FSL.
Commenting on this incident, Manish Chowdhary, CO- CEO Body Cupid Pvt Ltd said, “It is alarming to know that our products are being sold deceptively. At our end, due diligence was followed where we confirmed the information first and reported the entire matter at both the police stations. Two raids have been conducted so far and investigation is on to lead the police to other criminals involved. We are thankful to the Amroli and Bhavnagar police for all their support.”
