ENSEMBLE, established in 1987 in Mumbai, is the story of the evolution of Indian fashion over the last thirty-five years. A creative idea before its time that decolonized design, revolutionized retail, pioneered professions and galvanized India’s very first fashion community; the institution today has grown to have multiple locations across Mumbai, New Delhi and an e-commerce presence spanning across the world.
As Ensemble embarks on this milestone 35th year, Tina Tahiliani Parikh, CEO – Ensemble, is proud to announce a curation of a year-long series of celebrations of Indian fashion, that will feature 12 designers amongst the established as well as new upcoming labels. From TarunTahiliani&PayalKhandwala to Jayanti Reddy, Saaksha&Kinni, KshitijJalori, Aikeyah and more, each month will bring to us a veritable showcase of unique fashion handwritings from handwoven textiles to uncommon silhouettes & drapes and specialized bespoke prints, all created in collaboration with or especially for Ensemble. The collections will celebrate the combined strengths of each label with Ensemble’s invaluable insights across aesthetics, weaves, cuts, embroideries and design, beginning with a preview for “Aikeyah x Ensemble” at Ensemble, New Delhi from 10th February 2022 and online at www.ensembleindia.com.
“Celebrating our 35th year is a proud moment for the team at Ensemble. We are kicking it off with a series of exclusive collections which are the result of collaborations between our innovative designers and us. This month we are spotlighting Aikeyah. We love her fresh approach to Indian wear and the way she combines chic draped separates with her (almost) English embroideries to create a signature look. All the pieces in her sets can be worn separately or together, creating a range of Indian and contemporary looks. Post-pandemic, it’s clear to us that this is a very important direction to nurture in our design community, ” says Tina.
“We started working with ENSEMBLE a couple of years ago and the relationship graph has only looked up for us. We have a great working relationship and enjoy this patronage. Aikeyah’s designs are perennial. Year after year we have successfully built an audience with ENSEMBLE who enjoy handcrafted, deftly-made garments. I congratulate ENSEMBLE for achieving a milestone and wish them all the very best for their journey,” saysIsha Dhingra, Founder & Creative Director at Aikeyah.
Ensemble’s vision since inception and till today is to find, showcase and promote Indian designers as well as nurture Indian craftsmanship while championing the ‘Make In India’ movement. Most of the industry’s marquee designers fromTarunTahiliani, Anamika Khanna, Rohit Bal, Amit Aggarwal, Gaurav Gupta, Varun Bahl,Rajesh Pratap Singh to more recently KshitijJalori, Karan Torani and Sunira have all been launched at the Kala ghoda store. Ensemble today continues to be the lens through which India sees, wears, buys, and thinks about fashion!
