- Tell us something about the show?
COLORS’ latest supernatural drama ‘Pishachini’ unravels the tale of a family and their encounter with an evil demoness, Rani. An enchantress, she pretends to be a damsel in distress, but eventually entraps people and devours their souls with her enchanting beauty and dark energies. She casts her evil eye on every member of the family intending to capture their souls including Rakshit Rajput a.k.a. ‘Rocky’, who is a careless young boy and discards all supernatural beliefs. But there is one person, Pavithra (played by Jiya Shankar), who is well aware of the supernatural presence as her ancestral past is connected to Rani’s. She has a chance to encounter the youngest member of the Rajput family, Rakshit Rajput that leads her into their house. Pavithra senses the impending danger surrounding the Rajput house and decides to expose Rani’s truth in front of everyone. Will Pavithra save the Rajputs from the wrath of ‘Pishachini’?
- Tell us Something about your character? We always equate beauty with something peaceful and positive, but Pishachini will burst this myth for everyone. She is evil with the garb of a beautiful young woman with long tresses that add to her charm. Rani’s character is extremely intriguing and gives me a lot of opportunities to experiment as an actor. ‘Pishachini’ is a terrifying evil spirit who has not had a human birth for thousands of years. With time she has grown to be more powerful and can take a human form quite easily. While she is ancient, she has the supernatural power to look young and attractive. I am beyond thrilled to play such a multi-layered character with so many facets to it. I am positive that my fans will enjoy watching me in this
- What motivated you to take up the show? When the script was offered to me, I was immediately intrigued by the complex yet the engaging plot of the show. I have always been fascinated by supernatural shows and the thrill they bring to the audience. Moreover, I believe that as an actor it is a bit more challenging to take up such a show as one has to consider many aspects while delivering the performance. Having been a part of supernatural shows before, I found Rani’s character to be very interesting and even more challenging. She has many shades to her persona and while it will be tricky to get into her shoe, I look forward to experiencing it. As an actor, I think this challenge is something that one yearns for, hence I immediately agreed to be a part of the show. While my previous experience in this genre will certainly benefit me, I am looking forward to approaching things with a fresh perspective.
- How do you find this show to be different than your previous supernatural television show?I feel ‘Pishachini’ dives deep into the genre of supernatural drama. Unlike other shows, it is more focused as it narrates the journey of the Rajput family and their encounter with Rani, the Pishachini, and her evil powers. While I have previously worked in a show with a similar backdrop, this show has a very different story altogether. As the show progresses, I am sure that the viewers will get hooked on it and Pishachiniwill become a part of their daily watchlist.
- How is working in supernatural fantasy different from other genres? I must say that creating a supernatural show is way too different from any other genre. Since many sequences of supernatural shows are special effects, it becomes more challenging for an actor to deliver his/her performances. But at the end of the day, it’s all about how well you bring out your emotions on the screen and get in the zone of your character to find the connection with the masses.
- The supernatural television shows often face criticism for being somewhat unrealistic, what do you have to say about that? Every genre receives criticism from some part of the audience. However, that doesn’t mean that the entire genre is disliked. As an actor, our job is to use our wildest imagination to create characters that can truly entertain them. I also believe that whatever we do, we should always be prepared for our critics as well. On a positive note, I would say that it is the impact of the show that makes people watch it closely and talk about it.
- How was your experience of shooting the show in Himachal Pradesh so far? We shot in a small-town ‘Chail’ of Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the most blissful places I have ever visited. Even if you visit all the scenic places of this town, there’s so much more to explore. I am glad that we shot Pishachini between the beautiful mountains and river of Chail. I am certain that our audience will love watching the show as much as we loved shooting it. It has been an absolute pleasure working in Himachal Pradesh, and I hope to explore this state even more in the future.
- What is your message to the viewers?‘Pishachini’ is unlike any other show that I have ever done before. The show is thrilling, spine-chilling, and will hook you to the storyline. It is a complete package of suspense, drama, and fantasy. All I would say to my fans is to get ready for a roller coaster ride because I am certain that everyone will thoroughly enjoy being a part of this spectacular story!
