The Novotel Ahmedabad is set to host the Chefs Ride 2023 on 26 September for a large community-oriented initiative. The activity is led by a group of Indian chefs who are undertaking this motorcycle ride to spread awareness of International Chefs Day (20 October) and its important messages of unity and community. They started in Thiruvananthapuram on 01 September and will traverse 3500 kms along Western India, visiting 11 cities over the month of September.
Alan DMello is leading India’s chefs on this unique and highly anticipated motorcycle ride. On behalf of Ahmedabad’s hospitality industry, Novotel Ahmedabad and the IFEA (Innovative Food Entrepreneurs Associates) are co-hosting this important visit that has the world’s hospitality watching. A press conference is scheduled for 26 September at 16:00 hrs at the hotel.
“We are riding to raise awareness of Chefs Day among the larger hospitality industry because this important day belongs to everyone in a professional kitchen. It is about bringing equality in the culinary world and celebrating all professionals irrespective of the stature and role we perform in the kitchen and beyond. Community service is an important part of Chefs Day. Industry support has come in from hotel groups, hospitality institutes and chef associations,” said Chef Alan DMello, founder at X Events Hospitality, which is organising the #chefsride.
Over the four-week ride, the motorcycle group has hosted community events in Thiruvananthapuram, Mangaluru, Assagao (Goa), Panchgani and Pune so far. Soon Surat, Nashik, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Rajkot too will host the chefs.
20th October is International Chefs Day. A special website (chefsride.in) provides all the details of the ride, its goals and partners. We encourage professional cooks and their establishments everywhere to celebrate their day with their teams + local communities. This has been celebrated from 2004 onwards in 100+ countries. Since 2016, with our support, the initiative in India has grown from ~400 chefs to 18,000+. We stayed restrained during the pandemic’s two years, so with everyone’s help, this year, we aim to cross the 50,000+ mark. Our goal is to make Chefs Day a default celebration in India by 2030.
