Following the grand premiere of the new season of COLORS’ ‘Bigg Boss’, the popular entertainment reality show shakes things up in its 17th edition. This time, the show hosted by Salman Khan introduces an exciting twist: ‘Iss baar game nahi hoga sabke liye same to same.’ The boss of the house has announced that there will be favoritism and unequal treatment, adding more spice to the show for its audiences all over India. The participants are expected to follow the three mantras of Dil, Dimaag aur Dum to succeed in the game. Joining the competition this season is Munawar Faruqui, a stand-up comedian and rapper known for his unique take on life and witty observations.
Excerpts below:
- What are your thoughts on being part of one of the popular reality shows, ‘BIGG BOSS’?I was initially slated to join Bigg Boss 16 and Khatron Ke Khiladi 13, but it didn’t come to fruition. It’s hard to believe that I’m now a part of the 17th edition of BIGG BOSS. In my stand-up routines, I’ve often included my humorous observations about this show. It feels surreal to be a contestant on it. I’m genuinely excited to meet the viewers through India’s best reality show. I’m going to make the most of this amazing opportunity. It’s a tremendous chance to connect with the audiences and bring some entertainment into their lives. Just like BIGG BOSS, I’m all about entertainment.
- What identity would you like to create for yourself through ‘BIGG BOSS’?I am an artist, and I don’t want to confine myself to a specific identity. I have no interest in creating a carefully crafted persona. I aim to entertain my audience and intend to be as authentic as I am. The plan is to showcase all the facets of my personality – sometimes humorous, occasionally intense, and a bit silly. People may have formed preconceived notions about me, but I hope that these assumptions will be completely dispelled.
- According to you, how is ‘BIGG BOSS’ different from all the other reality shows?I think it’s a human version of a zoo in the sense that people are confined to a place and compelled to deal with each other. It’s natural to want to watch drama and observe human behaviour. BIGG BOSS is unlike other reality shows because it appeals to a wide range of viewers, from young to old. The swag and justice that Salman Khan brings pack this show with entertainment, laughter, and reality checks. There’s nothing quite as reassuring as knowing that even celebrities have the problems that common people have. No wonder the show has been ruling the hearts of viewers for 16 years.
- What made you say yes to the show? This show offers unparalleled exposure and can open doors to many exciting opportunities. It’s a great way to challenge myself and grow as a person while living with different people. I see it as a social experiment and I’m up for testing my skills in performing tasks and offering entertainment.
- What are your key strengths that will give you an edge on the show?My biggest strength is that I can laugh at myself and the situation. I’m very positive and it takes a lot to dampen my spirit. It’s very easy for me to make friends and bring out the best people. I’m open to learning things from others and I accept my mistakes readily. My sense of humour is the result of the experiences I’ve had. I’m sure I’m going to get great material for my stand-up routines from this show.
- What are a few must-haves you’re taking inside the house of ‘BIGG BOSS’?I’m not a materialistic person. I’ve just packed my clothes, medicines, and a few grooming essentials. I have a feeling that BIGG BOSS will take care of me, if I bring entertainment to the show with the mantras of Dil, Dimaag aur Dum.
- A message for your fans and viewers? You guys have inspired and encouraged me to hone my craft. I’m grateful to all the fans who go out of their way to show me love and support. I’m committed to keep the entertainment coming your way. Let’s focus on positivity and laugh together. Hope we get to know each other through this legendary show.
