Gandhinagar, 17 July 2025 –IPETHICON Educational Academy(IPTSE), in collaboration with Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), is set to host a landmark conference titled “Leveraging GI for Economic Growth, Cultural Preservation, and Global Recognition” along with GI Excellence Awards -Gujarat Chapter on 18th July 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the GNLU campus, Gandhinagar.
The event is supported by key institutional partners: Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST), Department of Science & Technology (DST), and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), APEDA & EDI& Industry Partner Ericsson India. The conference will also feature the GI Excellence Awards – Gujarat Chapter, recognizing outstanding contributions in promoting GI-tagged products.
The conference will bring together a distinguished panel of experts, policymakers, legal professionals, academics, and GI stakeholders to deliberate on the economic and cultural significance of Geographical Indications (GI) in India, especially Gujarat.
Highlights of the Programme Include:
- Inaugural Session featuring Opening Remarks by Ms. Purvi Pandya (Director, IPTSE), Welcome Address by Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar (Director, GNLU) Dr. Nidhi Buch Associate Professor of Law and Head GNLU Centre for IPR and a Special Address by Dr. Sunil Shukla (Director General, EDII).
- Felicitation of the GI Excellence Awards – Gujarat Chapter to honor individuals and organizations contributing to the GI ecosystem.
- Panel Discussions:
- Promoting Gujarat’s Unique GI Products: With speakers from WIPO, Junagadh Agricultural University, and SardarkrushinagarDantiwada Agricultural University.
- GI Policy, Legal Protection, and Financial Empowerment: Featuring experts from WIPO, SIDBI, LexOrbis, and Vision-IPR.
