In a significant step toward empowering local youth and strengthening the technical workforce, Elanpro successfully concluded its Skill Development Program for commercial refrigeration service technicians in Vadodara. Under the inaugural phase of the “COOL SKILLS, BRIGHT FUTURE” initiative, launched in collaboration with the Sarthak, a non-profit organization focused on vocational upskilling, 23 participants underwent intensive training to prepare for real world careers in India’s growing refrigeration and cold chain sector.
The program was designed to bridge the talent gap in the sector by offering a comprehensive six-week module combining interactive classroom learning, performance assessments and hands-on experience with real-world refrigeration systems. By the end of the course, trainees were equipped with the knowledge to operate, maintain and troubleshoot refrigeration equipment, enhancing their employability in fast growing industry. To strengthen skill to employment pipeline, a select group of certified trainees will also be offered internship and placement opportunities.

Beyond employment, the initiative contributes to larger socio-economic goals. Commercial refrigeration is a critical enabler of India’s food security, public health, and rural-urban supply chains. The sector’s rapid growth is fuelled by increasing demand for cold storage due to the proliferation of quick service restaurants, cloud kitchens, and restaurants.
Simultaneously, Baroda’s strong industrial ecosystem and its emergence as a hub for dairy cooperatives, processed foods, and pharmaceuticals have created fresh refrigeration requirements across production, storage, and distribution.
The city has a well-established network of ice cream parlours and a large cooperative dairy, along with smaller manufacturers. These businesses already depend heavily on refrigeration from production through storage to display. While the D2C food-brand ecosystem in Vadodara is emerging, its growth adds further demand for efficient cold chain systems to ensure product quality and safety.
With refrigeration systems becoming more technologically advanced and energy-efficient, the need for skilled service technicians is greater than ever. The “Cool Skills, Bright Future” program directly addresses this demand by creating a talent pool ready to contribute from day one.
Following the success of pilot phase, Elanpro will expand the program to other cities. Each phase will focus on equipping local youth with job-ready skills aligned with real-time industry needs and generating long-term economic opportunities in their regions.
