Ahmedabad: On 6th December 2025, Indus University hosted the grand inauguration ceremony of the Indus Advanced Green Nanotechnology Institute (iAGNi). The event commenced with the traditional lamp-lighting, creating an atmosphere of scientific innovation and pride across the university campus. This institute is emerging as the first of its kind in India as well as in Asia.
Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee and renowned cardiologist Dr. Tejas Patel graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the increasing importance of green nanotechnology in the fields of health, environment, and research. He elaborated on the greatness of the Indian Knowledge System, the ancient Ayurvedic research traditions, the contributions of Charaka in surgical science, and how these timeless practices can be harmoniously integrated with modern technology. He stated that the iAGNi Institute will become a unique bridge connecting technology, biomedical sciences, and India’s indigenous knowledge systems—ushering significant progress in healthcare and academic research in the coming years.
Guest of Honour Dr. K. S. Nagesh emphasized the growing need for interdisciplinary research and explained how green nanotechnology will play a vital role in addressing future challenges related to health and the environment.
Indus University President Dr. Nagesh Bhandari, former Member of Parliament and Union Minister Shri Anantkumar Hegde, and eminent scientist Dr. Kattesh V. Katti also shared their insights. They discussed future research prospects of the institute, potential collaborations with industry, and India’s capability to secure a leading position globally through such advanced initiatives.
After the inauguration ceremony, the guests were taken for a tour of the institute’s state-of-the-art facilities, research laboratories, and green nano-innovation modules. Expectations were expressed that in the coming years, the iAGNi Institute will pave new pathways in health technology, bio-innovation, and sustainable green materials.
