The menu is unapologetically Maharashtrian and made entirely from scratch – Masale Bhaat, Kothimbir Vadi, and my ultimate weakness, Shrikhand Puri. It’s a full-blown, soul-satisfying feast shared with the people I love most and a chance to walk Karan (Kundrra) through how this beautiful festival is celebrated yet again. One tradition that is special in our home is eating neem leaves with jaggery. As children, our elders would patiently explain the wisdom behind it – that it’s a literal taste of life itself. The coming year, they’d say, will be a mix of bitterness and sweetness, challenges and joy. You can’t have one without the other, and learning to accept both is what prepares you for the journey ahead. I see so much of this spirit reflected in Mahadev & Sons. The show celebrates family, traditions, and values that hold people together, especially during difficult times. Just like in real life, there are ups and downs, but the real strength lies in standing together and facing everything with positivity. I still remember waking up to a house already buzzing with festive energy, the smell of shrikhand puri drifting in from the kitchen. Growing up in Indore in a Marathi household, this festival is about starting anew, eating home-cooked delicacies, hoisting the Gudi and reconnecting with relative and friends. Every year, Papa and my brother Arpan would hoist the Gudi together. After my father’s demise, Vicky carries the tradition forward so beautifully and that continuity means a lot to me. It’s a treat to celebrate this special day distributing sweets to our Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment family that knows how to bring in the festive fervour. It’s a double celebration with the joy and the gratitude we feel as we raise the Gudi. My heart always leads me back to my parents’ home for the pooja, a tradition that’s special and nostalgic. Seeing the doorway transformed by fresh mango leaves and bright marigold torans is an absolute delight. And honestly, the celebration feels official once the Shrikhand Puri hits the table; it’s been the delicious, golden constant of our Gudi Padwa for as long as I can remember. The greatest gift I treasure this new year is the love that I’m getting as Bhanu Bajpai in Mahadev & Sons. There is so much for the audiences to look forward to in this family drama waiting to drop quite a few explosive twists. Parth Samthaan playing the role of Mahid in Seher Hone Ko Hai shares, “Gudi Padwa has always been a very special festival for me growing up in a Maharashtrian family. I have such fond memories of waking up early, watching my mother prepare the gudi outside our home, and the whole house filled with festive energy. My mother would make traditional food, and it was always a day spent with family, laughter and the feeling of a new beginning. Even today, whenever Gudi Padwa comes around, it instantly takes me back to those childhood moments and reminds me to pause and appreciate where I come from. In many ways, that spirit of fresh starts and hope is something I also see reflected in Seher Hone Ko Hai, where my character is constantly navigating through different phases of life and learning to find balance between the world they live in and the one that exists online.
