COLORS’ ‘Do Duniya Ek Dil’ has already been swiped right by every viewer’s heart since its premiere, drawing audiences into a world where the offline and online realms collide in the most unexpected ways. At the centre of this story is Shivaay (played by Vikram Singh Chauhan), a man who built his dreams on the belief that technology could do good until a brutal digital scam strips him of everything and leaves him completely distraught. Then there is Aadhya (played by Rachi Sharma), a young social media influencer who has built her whole identity in the online universe. These two could not be more different and yet love finds a way. The devastating twist in the plot is that Aadhya is the daughter of Baldev Singh (Sudhanshu Pandey), the man who engineered Shivaay’s downfall. In a time where truth is negotiable and trust is just one click away from being shattered, Aadhya finds herself caught between two worlds, the digital life she has built and the emotional reality that begins to unfold around her. Opening up about bringing this layered character to life, Rachi Sharma shares what makes Aadhya’s journey both exciting for her.
- Tell us about ‘Do Duniya Ek Dil’. What attracted you to Aadhya and made you say yes to the show? ‘Do Duniya Ek Dil’explores the two worlds many of us live in today, the life we curate online and the one we experience in reality. My character, Aadhya, belongs completely to the digital universe. She understands algorithms, engagement, and the rush of virality because that space has given her confidence, independence, and a voice of her own. But her perspective is challenged when Shivaay enters her life, someone who has completely lost faith in the online world after a scam ruins everything he worked for. To make things even more complicated, Aadhya’s father is the man responsible for Shivaay’s downfall, which puts her right at the center of love, loyalty, and truth. What really made me say yes to the show was Aadhya herself. She’s layered and very relevant to today’s generation, someone who appears strong and confident online but is still figuring out her emotions and choices in the real world. I was drawn to that conflict within her and the emotional journey she goes through as her two worlds begin to collide. It’s a character that feels modern, relatable, and full of growth, which made it very exciting for me as an actor to explore.
- Tell us about your character and how different it is from roles you have played earlier. Aadhya is someone who is extremely confident, ambitious, and very comfortable in the digital space. She is a complete reels ki rani, knows how to command attention online and has built a strong identity for herself there. At the same time, she carries emotional vulnerabilities because her personal life hasn’t always been as perfect as it may seem from the outside. As the story progresses and Shivaay enters her life, she finds herself torn between her growing feelings for him and the secrets she is forced to carry about her identity, which makes her journey even more emotionally complicated. What makes Aadhya different from roles I’ve played earlier is that she is very contemporary and layered. Playing a character who balances a strong public persona with such personal conflicts has been a new and exciting experience for me.
- How did you prepare for the role? I’m quite different from Aadhya in the sense that my life doesn’t revolve around social media, but being part of Gen Z, I do understand the space she belongs to. While preparing for the role, I didn’t specifically follow any creators or influencers. Instead, I tried to build Aadhya’s story in my head by imagining what her childhood must have been like, what shaped her choices, and what led her to the world of influencing. In my mind, she is someone who had many dreams beyond social media, but because of certain restrictions from her father, she couldn’t really explore those options. Influencing then became the one space where she could express herself and build something of her own. Keeping that in mind helped me approach Aadhya as more than just a social media personality. On the surface, she is confident, expressive and completely in control of her online world. But beneath that, there’s a much more personal and emotional side to her, someone who still carries unfulfilled dreams and a deeper story that people don’t always see behind the screen. I think that contrast is what makes her journey in this digital-age love story so interesting.
- The story is set in Agra, and you’ve spent a good amount of time shooting there. How was that experience for you? It was a special experience for me because Agra is such a beautiful city with so much history and culture. Shooting in front of the Taj Mahal was a dream come true. We had a great time shooting there, and the entire schedule was filled with memorable moments. During the shoot, we also went to Kannauj, which was a very interesting experience for me. I brought back a lot of observations from there especially about the people. Everyone was so warm and helpful, and the way locals support you during shoots really makes the whole experience much easier and more comfortable. One thing I clearly remember is how cold it was while we were shooting in Agra. It was freezing, but the team spirit kept everyone going and the hard work paid off.
- How does the collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs strengthen the show’s message? This collaboration makes the show feel even more meaningful because the story is rooted in something that is very real today. The digital world gives us incredible opportunities, but it also comes with risks if we’re not careful. Through its partnership with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), Do Duniya Ek Dil also carries an important awareness message by including on-screen disclaimers that encourage viewers to report cyber fraud immediately by calling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in. Through Shivaay’s loss, the show reminds viewers to stay aware, pause before you click, verify before you trust, and understand that while technology can empower us, it’s important that we stay in control of how we use it.
- What was it like working with the co-cast on this show? Working with Sudhanshu sir has been a wonderful experience because he’s such an accomplished actor, and there’s so much to learn just by observing him on set. Despite his strong screen presence, he’s very warm and approachable, and in the initial days he would often share little insights about scenes which really helped me. Off camera too, he keeps the atmosphere light with his stories and humour. With Vikram, it’s been very easy and comfortable. He’s extremely sincere about his work and very collaborative as a co-actor, which makes our scenes feel natural. We’ve also shared a lot of fun moments between shots, so overall it’s been a positive experience working with both.
- Today, we’re all just a click away from everything. What are your thoughts on the online and offline world, and how do you deal with the same? Honestly, as a person, the online world is a huge part of my everyday life because it’s where I share my work, express myself, and connect with people who resonate with what I do. As many influencers say, social media really has two sides. On one hand, it’s a powerful platform that helps you build a community, raise awareness about things that matter, and instantly reach people in ways that weren’t possible before. But there’s also a darker side – trolling, scams, and unnecessary negativity are very real, and sometimes people forget there’s a real person behind the screen. I’ve experienced something similar in real life as well. I once received a scam call in my father’s name, and it was quite shocking because it showed how easily people can try to manipulate you. That experience really made me more aware of how careful we all need to be. That’s why I feel it’s important not to let the online world completely define your reality. I try to keep a healthy boundary and remind myself that what we see online is often just a highlight reel, and spending time offline with family and friends is just as important for staying grounded.
- What can viewers look forward to in the upcoming storyline? Do Duniya Ek Dil brings to life a story about the world we live in and the one we carry with ourselves through a device, two spaces we are constantly navigating. Now that the show has launched and viewers have already stepped into this journey, the story continues to explore what happens when these two worlds collide in the most personal way possible, through love. Can love survive the shock of truth, deception, and the blurred lines between the online and offline worlds? As the episodes unfold, audiences will see deeper emotions, unexpected twists, and relationships being tested in ways they never imagined.
