With 52 GW of installed RE capacity, ranked first for wind and second for solar, Gujarat steps forward ahead of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo (BRE Summit) 2026, from 2 to 5 November at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi
Ahmedabad: Building on the momentum generated in Jaipur, Mumbai and Hyderabad, leading voices from government, industry and the renewable energy sector gathered in Ahmedabad for the fourth in a series of regional roadshows for the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo (BRE Summit) 2026, India’s largest renewable energy summit and expo.
Hosted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the roadshow was organised in knowledge partnership with the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) and supported by the Gujarat Federation of Solar Industries (GFSI). Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 will be held alongside the 9th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH), bringing together global leaders, policymakers, industry, investors and innovators on a common platform.
Delivering the keynote address, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon’ble Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, said that “Gujarat has set an ambitious target of 105 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, but what is most impressive is not any single number—it is the state’s mindset. Where others saw constraints, Gujarat saw possibilities. Desert landscapes became solar parks, wind became an industrial opportunity, and today the state is leading the next frontiers of green hydrogen, energy storage, offshore wind, and clean energy manufacturing”.
He further highlighted The Bharat Renewable Energy Summit is designed to bring together policymakers, states, global investors, developers, technology providers, manufacturers, and financial institutions, creating a platform where policy meets capital, technology meets opportunity, and commitment moves towards implementation and invited Gujarat to participate in the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 in New Delhi with its projects, technologies, investment opportunities and ambitions, urging the state to play a leading role in shaping the next phase of India’s clean energy future.
Shri Rushikesh Patel, Hon’ble Minister of Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat, said that “Our renewable energy journey is also deeply connected to our responsibility towards the environment and the generations that will follow us. We are already witnessing the consequences of environmental damage and rising temperatures. We are suffering now, and we must ensure that the next generation does not have to suffer. The effort to achieve this is in our hands, and it requires the participation of all of you. Our goal is clear, but we must also think about how we can move faster and achieve our ambitions ahead of time”.
The Ahmedabad edition placed Gujarat’s formidable clean energy ecosystem firmly in the national spotlight. With a total installed renewable energy capacity of 52 GW contributing 17.82 per cent to India’s overall renewable energy base, ranked first in the country for wind energy installations and second for solar, Gujarat stands today as one of India’s most consequential clean energy states and a growing centre of the country’s renewable energy manufacturing landscape.
The roadshow opened with introductory remarks by Shri K J Shah, MD, Zodiac Energy and National Governing Council Member, NSEFI, followed by context-setting remarks by Shri Dhananjay Kumar, Director, Engie and National Governing Council Member, NSEFI. Shri Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO, NSEFI, presented an overview of India’s renewable energy growth and success story, setting the stage for the proceedings that followed.
Shri Abhay Bakre, Mission Director, National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), presented the strategic objectives, core themes and proposed participation framework for BRE Summit 2026. He said the “When we came together for RE-INVEST 2024, the focus was on attracting investments and building partnerships. In just two years, India has added over 100 GW of renewable energy capacity, making the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit much more than an investment platform. It is now a forum to shape the next two decades of India’s clean energy journey towards Viksit Bharat through policy, innovation and global collaboration. Gujarat’s participation is especially important, as the summit will bring together policymakers, industry, developers, investors and technology leaders from across the world”.
He further mentioned that Denmark, the European Union, the UK, Germany and the Netherlands have already confirmed as official partners, the event will create a unique opportunity for Gujarat to showcase its policies and investment potential while engaging directly with global investors and technology providers.
Shri Ashwini Kumar, IAS, Principal Secretary Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat said “Gujarat has always sought to be a leader in the renewable energy sector, constantly trying to do something new and do something better. Today, our journey extends beyond solar and wind to green hydrogen, energy storage and other emerging technologies. The support and collaboration we have received from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy have been important in this journey, and together we are working towards strengthening India’s position in the global clean energy transition”
Gujarat’s clean energy record spans every segment of the value chain. Its 15,850.56 MW of wind and 32,302.7 MW of solar capacity are matched by national leadership in rooftop solar, with over 13.45 lakh installations generating 7,408.10 MW. The sector has also created an estimated 2.37 lakh direct and indirect jobs, making Gujarat’s clean energy story as much about economic opportunity as it is about installed capacity.
Roadshow Series and Nationwide Outreach: The Ahmedabad edition marks the fourth successful stop in a nationwide outreach campaign designed to mobilise regional momentum ahead of November. Following the inaugural roadshow in Jaipur on 24 August, the Mumbai edition on 27 August and the Hyderabad edition on 31 August, upcoming roadshows are scheduled in Lucknow, Bengaluru and Kolkata in the coming weeks. The Ministry and organising partners invite all state governments, utilities and industry stakeholders to actively engage with these upcoming regional sessions.
