Patil will preside over a grand Jal Sammelan on 12th July at 5:00 PM at Paradise Hall, located behind Cosmoplex Cinema, Kalavad Road. The event is part of the massive commitment of Girganga Parivar Trust, an organization working globally for the welfare of all living beings — humans, animals, and birds — through water preservation, under which 1,11,111 check dams will be constructed. On this occasion, Pujya Swami Shri Paramatmanandji of Arsh Vidya Mandir, Munjka, will deliver blessings in the presence of Gujarat Energy Minister Shri Kanubhai Desai, along with Shri C.R. Patil. As special guests, Shri S.J. Haider, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Shri N.F Chaudhry, Managing Director of UGVCL, K.P. Joshi, Managing Director of PGVCL, and Upendra Pandey, Managing Director of JETCO, will be present at the inauguration ceremony.
In the presence of Gujarat BJP Vice President Dr. Bharatbhai Bodhra, Rajkot City BJP President Shri Madhavbhai Dave, and Former Rajkot City BJP President Shri Mukeshbhai Doshi, more than 1500 dignitaries including industrialists, donors, community leaders, and prominent individuals from various districts and talukas will attend this Jal Sammelan. At the event, information will be shared about the importance of pure rainwater – considered as nectar in life – and the need for its proper conservation.
Under the guidance of Shri Dilipbhai Sakhiya, President of Girganga Parivar Trust, the trust undertakes the restoration of old, damaged, and broken check dams by repairing, deepening, and elevating them. Additionally, new check dams are also constructed as per the requirement. So far, the Girganga Parivar Trust has successfully completed around 8000 water conservation projects of this kind. In many districts and talukas, in the context of water conservation, this is truly a Bhagirath-like effort being carried out. There are indeed many small and large check dams in Saurashtra…!!! However, in many of these dams, silt has accumulated, and as a result, such dams have become very shallow. From such silt-filled check dams, the Girganga Parivar Trust, through public participation, removes the soil and exposes the bottom layer of the land, thereby increasing the water-holding capacity of the dam. When farmers take the fertile soil removed from the dams and spread it in their fields, it leads to a significant increase in crop production.
Girganga Parivar Trust has taken a firm resolution to repair, deepen, elevate, and construct new check dams — totaling 1,11,111 — across various districts and talukas, along with recharging borewells and creating farm ponds. Out of the 1,11,111 planned structures, 8,000 have already been completed. In this journey, a large number of donors and citizens from the community have joined hands with Girganga Parivar Trust. The current water crisis in cities like Bengaluru and Delhi should not arise in our regions. People must understand the importance of pure rainwater, which is like nectar, and on occasions like birthdays, wedding anniversaries, death anniversaries of loved ones, or any special event at home, they can make it permanently memorable by constructing check dams in their native villages for the storage of rainwater. Through this, they can help protect all living beings on Earth for many years to come.
Years ago, due to the presence of water in rivers and ponds, the surrounding areas used to blossom with lush greenery and trees. As a result, every animal, bird, and living creature had access to drinking water, food, and a natural habitat to live in. However, in the present time, due to the drastic depletion of groundwater levels, nature is being destroyed, leading to the extinction of many living beings on Earth due to lack of water, and even human society is becoming more prone to diseases. In such a situation, the Girganga Parivar Trust, through complete public participation, is working towards the proper conservation of rainwater.
