Ahmedabad, April 23, 2025 – In a strategic initiative to advance hands-on learning and technical expertise in the field of advanced composite materials, the Center of Excellence – Composites at Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association (ATIRA), in collaboration with the Composite Excellence Center of Asia (CECA), Vadodara, successfully organized a three-day master workshop titled “Beyond the Surface: In-Depth Testing and Certification of Composites” from April 21 to 23, 2025, at the CoE-Composites, ATIRA campus in Ahmedabad.
The workshop commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a warm welcome address from the organizers. The inauguration featured keynote addresses by distinguished guests including Shri Abhay Upadhye, Chairman of the Governing Council at the Indian Plastics Institute (IPI), Shri Atul Kanuga, Former President of IPI, and Shri Prashant Trivedi, a passionate advocate for innovation in plastics and composites. In his address, Shri Upadhye emphasized the rising significance of composite materials in modern industrial sectors such as aerospace, automotive, and construction.
Specifically designed for industry professionals, researchers, and technical experts, the workshop offered a balanced integration of theoretical insights and practical exposure. Sessions were led by renowned experts including Dr. Mamta Saiyad, Dr. Ashok Rajpurohit, Mr. Shashikant Patil, and Prof. Dr. Prabhat Munshi, who guided participants through various aspects of composite testing and certification.
The program was structured to deliver a comprehensive understanding of composite materials and their evaluation methods, covering physical and mechanical testing, thermal and flame resistance, chemical analysis, and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques. Participants gained hands-on experience with advanced testing equipment and industry-relevant procedures, significantly enhancing their knowledge of material behavior, safety standards, and certification protocols.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony and a group photograph, symbolizing the successful completion of this enriching technical event. Participants expressed strong appreciation for the quality of instruction, practical relevance, and networking opportunities offered throughout the program.
This collaborative initiative by COE-ATIRA and CECA reflects their shared commitment to promoting innovation, skill development, and research excellence in the fields of materials science and composite engineering in India.
