Recent health trends in Gujarat’s largest city indicate a significant shift in the fertility landscape, as fertility specialists report a rise in severe male factor infertility, low ovarian reserve in women and an increase in couples with prior unsuccessful IVF attempts.
Dr Nimisha Shantilal Pandya, Consultant & Centre Head, Birla Fertility & IVF Ahmedabad, shared: “In Ahmedabad, we are witnessing a clear rise in severe male factor infertility, largely linked to lifestyle factors, metabolic health issues and delayed parenthood. Alongside this, we are seeing an increasing number of women presenting with low ovarian reserve. We are also seeing more couples who come to us with a history of multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts.
In many such cases, the challenge is not the absence of treatment, but incomplete diagnostics, missed genetic factors, or repeated use of standard protocols in biologically complex situations. From a clinical standpoint, expanding evaluation through advanced sperm testing, genetic screening and personalised cycle planning is essential.
Fertility care today requires precision-led decision making rather than volume-driven approaches. When diagnostics and treatment sequencing are aligned correctly, even patients with long histories of failed attempts can achieve improved and realistic outcomes.”
Experts note that this evolving trend underscores the importance of early evaluation and personalised fertility care, especially for couples who have experienced repeated treatment failures and are seeking clearer pathways to successful outcomes.
