Mr Rahul Gandhi kicked off the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022 campaign of the Congress with big poll promises. While Gandhi made several promises benefiting the common people, he also slammed the BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) government in the state on multiple issues.
Addressing Congress booth-level workers at the ‘ParivartanSankalp Rally’ at the Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad, Rahul Gandhi made the following election promises:
- It will be the government’s responsibility to provide treatment up to 10 lakhs to every citizen of Gujarat; medicines will be given free of cost.
- Covid compensation of Rs 4 lakh will be given to 3 lakh families of Gujarat who have lost their people in the Covid epidemic.
- Farmers’ loans up to 3 lakh will be waived, and farmers’ electricity bills will be waived. 300 units of electricity will be given free of cost to common consumers.
- 10 lakh jobs will be taken out for the youth, in which 50% of the jobs will be reserved for girls.
- The contract system in government jobs will come to an end in Gujarat, and an unemployment allowance of Rs 3000 will be given to the youth.
- 3000 government English medium schools will be opened all over Gujarat, and KG to PG education for girls will be free.
- Milk producers of Gujarat will be given a subsidy of ₹ 5 on 1 liter, and gas cylinders will be given for Rs 500.
- Bring laws against corruption, and there will be scrutiny of corruption in the last 27 years, and the guilty will be sent to jail.
“Gujarat has become the centre of the drugs trade. All drugs are moved from Mundra port but your government doesn’t take any action. This is the Gujarat model,” Rahul Gandhi said, addressing the rally.
Mr Rahul Gandhi, who visited Gujarat two days ahead of the ‘Bharat JodoYatra’, arguably the biggest mass contact programme any the Congress leader has undertaken, also slammed the BJP-ruled Gujarat government for turning the state into a “centre of drugs trade”.
Rahul Gandhi’s visit comes as the ruling BharatiyaJanata Party and opposition along with the Congress is gearing up for the Gujarat polls due later this year.
